con·scious·ness [kon-shuhs-nis] Show IPA noun 1. The state of being conscious; awareness of one's own existence, sensations, thoughts, surroundings, etc. 2. The thoughts and feelings, collectively, of an individual or of an aggregate of people: the moral consciousness of a nation. 3. Full activity of the mind and senses, as in waking life: to regain consciousness after fainting. 4. Awareness of something for what it is; internal knowledge: consciousness of wrongdoing. 5. Concern, interest, or acute awareness: class consciousness. Because we have noticed that our ideas of ourselves, our world around us, and our habits/patterns/thoughts/feelings/outlooks have all changed in vast amounts of ways in the last five years and four moves that we are bound to have more. In fact, we set out on this trip in order to have more and to move beyond some of our old stuff that still haunts us. Why Road Trip? Because that is what we are on, or about to embark on since we still have a few last minute things to take care of before we actually set out. We are setting off on a road trip with no plans, no destination and no preset time limits. Why the two together? Basically we are bound and determined to get lost on the back roads, in the backwoods, off the beaten path and on the long forgotten highways and byways of America in hopes that in doing so we can find our long lost hopes and dreams and bring them out of the dark and into our new light.
